A few years ago, my mom and I thought it would be a great idea to dress my chihuahua, Jaq Jaq, in a large puffy coat to protect his little rubber belly from the elements.
The result? That scene from A Christmas Story where Ralphie can't put his arms down.
Ads for more puffy winter coats for dogs have been popping up in my Facebook newsfeed lately, which reminds me that it's time to pull that coat out again and take pictures of my dog for 5 minutes while he hates his life all over again. (He puts up with it because he knows he'll get smothered in hugs and kisses if he goes along with it.)
Here are five coats, all from Chewy, I can see my dog hating me for:
1. Pet Life Sporty Vintage Aspen Ski Jacket
Unfortunately for him, blue no longer comes in size X-Small. Fortunately for me, the X-Small is still available in pink. They're running for around $22 on Chewy.com. (Photo: Pet Life via Chewy.com)
2. Doggie Design Ruffin It Dog Snow Suit Harness
I'll be damned, it's a little gangsta Santa dog outfit! He'll hate me so much for this! It's around $30 on Chewy.com. (Photo: Doggie Design via Chewy.com)
3. Fab Dog Metallic Puffer Dog Jacket
This could double as Jaq Jaq's Halloween costume...the first dog to fly around the moon in a Tesla. It's almost $60 on Chewy.com, and so worth it. (Photo: Fab Dog via Chewy.com)
4. Chilly Dog Tattoo Mom Dog & Cat Sweater
Okay...he will love this one. (Or else.) It's going for just over $25 on Chewy.com. (Photo: Chilly Dog via Chewy.com)
5. Ultra Paws WeatherMaster Dog Snowsuit with Ultra-Heat Liner
Just look at this big dog's face. He took one for the teacup team and is hating every second of it. On second thought, this doesn't seem like a horrible contraption to have with subzero temps in Minnesota...It's just under $40 at Chewy.com. (Photo: Ultra Paws via Chewy.com)
