Prince will be awarded with an honorary degree from the University of Minnesota this month, KSTP reports.
A statement from the school said he will be awarded with the university's highest honor, the Doctor of Humane Letters degree. His sister, Tyka Nelson, will receive the degree for the late singer.
This honorary degree was actually in the works before Prince's death from an accidental fentanyl overdose. The U wants to recognize "his remarkable talent and enduring influence in music, as well as his extraordinary contributions off-stage in shaping the city of Minneapolis, fostering music talent and his influence in the realms of gender identity, fashion and socio-political activism."
