#MeToo Movement Prompts Ban On Popular Christmas Song

One of Christmas' most popular song is being banned amid the #MeToo movement, according to multiple reports.

USA TODAY says a radio station in Ohio will not play "Baby It's Cold Outside" after a listener called to say it's inappropriate during the #MeToo movement. Over the last few years, the song has brought up the same point: some arguing that rape culture is played out in its lyrics.

USATODAY's Mary Nahorniak dug into the history of the song and has this to say:

In the original score, the male part is written as a 'wolf' and the woman as a 'mouse' - that speaks volumes about male predatory behavior. Many women know what it's like to feel trapped by a man, whether emotionally or physically. In those situations, it doesn't matter how it began or why she wants to leave, it only matters that she wants to go, now.

Other people are stuck in 1940 and say that the song being written back then is a good enough excuse for lyrics depicting a man trying to keep a woman from leaving his house...and a woman wondering what's in her drink and wanting to get the hell out of there. (Read more here.)
