Adults Can Swim With Tiny Otters At This Animal Preserve - I Want To Go!

I'm always up for new experiences and this seems like my next venture. At Barn Hill Preserve in Ethel, Louisiana you can now swim with these adorable otters. It sort of seems surreal but it also looks like a lot of fun. It also seems like the otters are pretty familiar with people as well. They're also not regular otters either, the small clawed otter is the smallest otter in the world which makes them even more adorable.

According to the Barn Hill Preserve, The otter swim includes a preserve tour, up-close interactions with their animal ambassadors (think kangaroos, pythons, armadillos, and lynx), and time in the water with the otters. To swim, you need to be 16 years or older and the entire experience lasts around three hours. According to their site, the average time otters swim in the pool is 35 minutes “so that this remains a very positive experience for them.” If otters are not your thing, they also allow guests a chance to hang out with their sloths. Sounds legit!

According to ScaryMommy.com, The preserve has been open for seven years and spends a majority of its time educating the community about conservation and animal rescue, and allows kids to get up close and personal with animals they might never have seen before.

So, how much does it all cost? Not too bad, but a little spendy. The otter swim and tour costs $154 per person and the encounter with the other animals is $44 for adults and $38 for kids with kids two years or younger are free. Time to book that flight!
