PHOTOS: Look Inside Minneapolis' New Filipino Restaurant

posted by @mollieonair -

For months I've been eyeing up this closed up Vicinity Coffee shop on Nicollet, knowing that south Minneapolis would soon get a Filipino restaurant. Just this week, Apoy finally opened.

Apoy MPLS has been promoting its food leading up to the grand opening event on Monday, telling the world all the wonderful things the public loves (or will love) about Filipino food. I'll admit, I don't even know what to expect Filipino food to taste like, but I am totally down to try it (because I assume I'd love it).

Here are some of the top Instagrams from inside Apoy, Minneapolis' new Filipino restaurant on 43rd and Nicollet.

The restaurant is opening soon. We get the sneak peak tonight.

Time to move on to more of the menu here at the grand opening of @apoympls. One of the three owners, Sherwin (in my story) was a pleasure to talk to and get the rundown on the joint along with some background on what their goal is. Andrew, our server, was also very informative and just made me feel at home. 👍🏼 I really hope this place sticks around and everyone accepts it for what it is, authentic Filipino food. Definitely start out with an 8% @redhorsebeer, rumor has it, they may be the only ones serving these big bad tall boys. ENTREES Adobo - Chicken thigh, garlic, onions, bay leaf, whole peppercorns, in soy sauce, and vinegar. • Kare-Kare - Beef, garlic, onions, eggplant, bok choy, green beans, annatto oil, shrimp paste, ground peanuts, peanut butter. • DESSERTS Halo Halo - Shaved ice, evaporated milk, coconut strips, banana, jackfruit, mango, red beans, and chick peas topped with ice cream. • Ube Halaya - Ube, coconut milk, condensed milk and butter. • @shawnsrodgers and I did the best we can at tackling most of the menu and all of the beers. We left a few entrees for a future visit. They switch out the menu from time-to-time, which is something that will get me in more often. It’s a small intimate place that use to be a coffee shop. The bathrooms are bigger than the kitchen....🤣 I dig them though! Give them some time to get into their rhythm and enjoy. We did! #FilipinoFood #Dinner #Dessert

@phatphood and I called an audible for dinner which took us to @apoympls , a new Filipino restaurant in the Twin Cities that officially opened their doors today on Nicollet Avenue next door to Revival! Here you’ll find many traditional Filipino dishes (and Red Horse Beer) including the popular Halo-Halo dessert also known as Filipino Shaved Ice Sundae! This one includes shaved ice, evaporated milk, coconut strips, banana, jackfruit, mango, red beans, and chickpeas topped with ice cream and ube! 🍧 🍨 . . #filipinofood shavedice #halohalo #ube #icecream #dessert #eatingfortheinsta #buzzfeast #buzzfeedfood #foodgawker #eeeeeats #tryitordiet #feedyoursoull #yumm #beautifulcuisines #eater #instafood #foodstagram #foodie #eatdrinkdishmpls #devourpower #bestfoodfeed #filipino #minneapolis #mnfoodie #forkyeah #zagat #foodporn #foodgasm #eatfamous #f52grams

The Sisig from @apoympls! A bit of heat, crispy, and plenty delicious bits of pork with a lot of different textures, which made this one my favorite bites!
