Even though the traditional marriage ceremonies with lavish decorations and hair pulling stress inducing schedules to keep, not to mention all the money they cost, are still the norm, plenty still opt for an easier no fuss courtroom wedding. Well this Thursday, February 14th, judges of Hennepin county will be performing free weddings for up to 36 couples over the noon hour. Y ou'll still have to go through all the usual steps, including bringing witnesses and presenting a marriage license and photo IDs.
This is actually a bit of a tradition for the county, Hennepin county courthouse has been conducting free Valentines day weddings since 2012 with 28 couples took the county up on the offer in 2018. This event is the brainchild of Hennepin County District Judge William Koch, "who thought it a good way to celebrate Valentine's Day."
