With 4 floors, an indoor theme park, movie theater, go cart track and 4.2 million square footage of shopping and family fun, the Mall of America in Bloomington Minnesota is the largest in the nation. It's been that way for a long time, but its days with that title are limited. Plans to build a 6.2-million-square-foot shopping and entertainment center on a 174-acre site off the Florida Turnpike are already set in motion. It will include an indoor water park, lake, ski slope, ice-climbing wall, 2,000 hotel rooms, and up to 1,200 stores, per the Wall Street Journal.
It's going to be called -American Dream Miami— The estimated cost is $4 billion, and Canada's Triple Five Worldwide Group, run by the Ghermezian family has the project in their hands. They've built Canada's West Edmonton Mall, the largest mall in the world when it opened 35 years ago, as well as our very own Mall of America.
Although speaking as a Minnesotan, its a bit of a pride thing to boast having the largest mall in America since the early 90's, but i'm still excited about the idea of going skiing in Florida.
