Summer Forecast Is In, How Many 90+ Degree Days Are In Store?

Meteorologists and weather forecasters say May is an excellent indicator for how temperatures will proceed for the rest of the summer. We will have to wait and see but, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources believe 90-degree days in May indicate a hotter than normal summer. There are 146 years of weather tracking recorded for Minnesota and in those years there are 23 years in which the month of May saw more than one 90-degree day in the Twin Cities. This past Tuesday (May 29th) was the sixth consecutive 90+ degree day.

The DNR's climate journal states, "We find that years with multiple 90-degree days during May have tended to be followed by summers that also have relatively high numbers of 90-degree days."

Again this is all speculation, we will just have to wait and see, but history does have a way of repeating itself...
