Miley Cyrus is under fire right now, as she, Sony Music and RCA Records are being sued for $300 million over a lyric in her song "We Can't Stop." According to Billboard the song is Miley Cyrus' third biggest hit. Jamaican artist Flourgon (real name Michael May) is alleging a line in the 2013 song—"We run things, things don't run we"—rips off a prominent lyric from Flourgon's 1988 hit "We Run Things," states Forbes.
Without the influence of Flourgon's song, "the entire theme of 'We Can't Stop' would be hollow in sound and impact," states the lawsuit, filed Tuesday in New York, per CNN.
I put the two songs up here, so you can listen and compare for yourself.
