It's well known now that the "Perfect" singer is now engaged to his longtime girlfriend Cherry Seaborn. But when Ed showed up to The Brit Awards, mid last week rumors were sparked. "Did he secretly get married already?" Ed was sporting a simple yet classy silver wedding band which led people to believe he was married.
Think about it, it's not all that common for men to wear engagement rings, however that's exactly what it is. Not a wedding band. Actually why don't men where engagement rings? Historically, engagement rings are a sign of ownership. Women wear them as a public symbol to show everyone that they are off the market, but men don't. That doesn't sound very equal now does it?
Jewelers have been trying to make male engagement rings a thing for years now, but it never caught on. They even tried calling them “man-gagement rings” for a while.
considering so many of Ed Sheeran's songs are newly weds' first dances, he may have more influence in this trend as initially thought. Maybe we'll see this becoming more commonplace, I just hope we don't call them "man-gagement rings"...please
