First Muppet with autism makes Sesame Street debut tonight

April is World Autism Awareness month and the long running children's series is set to introduce a new character to help spread autism awareness. More than that though the show is introducing the new character because it has a long standing tradition of showcasing characters from all walks of life, who live their lives in very unique ways. From the shy and quiet to the cookie loving variety and even the grouchy.

The new character is named Julia. She's 4 years old and has autism. She will be announced on the show on Monday April 10th. She'll be introduced as just another resident of Sesame Street who "does things a little differently." We've already seen a sneak peek at Julia, who has already starred in storybooks, as a part of the “See Amazing in All Children” initiative by Sesame Street.
