For over 30 years, Cities 97.1 has been dedicated to helping local MN Charities and it’s no different in 2024. This month as part of Cities Gives Back, we recognize The Goliath Project.
Did you know that physical activity can help patients cope with side effects of cancer treatment and possibly decrease their risk of new cancers in the future? Based in the Twin Cities, The Goliath Project was formed in 2021 and their mission is to empower and restore student athletes who have recovered from cancer by providing a safe, individualized, personal training programs to help these students return to their respective sports.
Life saving treatments like chemotherapy and radiation often leave children with a loss of muscle mass, decline in balance or coordination, and chronic fatigue, giving them an additional challenge when returning to training. The health and training professionals at The Goliath Project are utilized to address each of their athletes unique hurdles and help walk them through this phase of post cancer treatment that is often overlooked.
The Goliath Project provides services to recovering athletes such as personal training, gym related equipment, nutrition, and sports psychology services. To fully execute their mission one of their biggest needs are donations to help fund these services for recovering athletes.
