There’s one Turkey hoping for apresidential pardon.
A TikToker split audiences online after posting a video depicting a live turkey stumbling upon one of his counterparts roasting in the oven on Thanksgiving. The morbid holidayclip amassed 40.3 million viewsand 5.3 million likes as of Friday afternoon.
The divisive 11-second video, uploaded by user @our10acres, shows a male “Tom” turkey named Big Red strutting past an open oven in which a golden-skinned gobbler is displayed. Think a “Silence Of The Lambs” character walking in on Hannibal Lecter during dinner.
The clip concludes with the narrator reassuring her fine-feathered friend, “It’s okay,” because “you don’t know him.”
Suffice to say, the macabre video sparked mixed reactions, with some deeming it traumatizing while others treated it as a fun, holiday gag.
“You just gon cook his homie in front of him,” spluttered one aghast gawker, while another wrote, “y’all know y’all wrong.”
One turkey fan even fumed about the perceived turkey intimidation move: “That’s not even remotely funny.”
One TikTok Samaritan advised that the bird “run away as far as possible” before it suffered the same fate.
However, others were entertained by the“Mask Of Zorro”-evoking clip, with one TikTok wit quipping that the turkey was wondering where its baked brethren’s clothes were.
Another imagined that the aghast gobbler was exclaiming, “Now wait a damn minute! Phil is that you?”
The videographer,who frequently posts animal clips for her near 150,000 TikTok followers, has since clarified in the comments that “Big RED was not traumatized….he was mad I wouldn’t let him eat it.”
Although she didn’t disclose if her turkey also ended up on the menu or received a pardon.
Perhaps Big Red’s apparent lack of caring is none too surprising given turkeys’sadomasochistic sex lives, which involve everything from standing on their mates’ necks to fluffing up phallic facial erections when aroused.
