An Incredible Lineup of Artists Set to Cover Metallica's 'Black Album

Legendary American metal band Metallica has announced something truly incredible. In celebration of the anniversary of their landmark Black Album, the band is releasing a covers record called Blacklist featuring more than 50 performers doing powerful renditions of classic songs. Here's more details from the press release:

'To celebrate the legendary Black Album, over 50 artists from all walks of life have joined forces with Metallica’s blessing to record their own versions of the album’s iconic tracks, and all the resulting profits will be donated to charities of the artists’ choosing. We’ll be releasing new material from different artists on a weekly basis leading up to the full album release in September, so get ready for another summer of content inspired by the mighty Metallica!'

Here's a little taste:

This tribute album features 53 songs from a truly amazing list of artists. We're talking St. Vincent doing 'Sad But True', Phoebe Bridgers tackling 'Nothing Else Matters', Mac DeMarco's spin on 'Enter Sandman'. Weezer, IDLES, Kamasi Washington, Jason Isbell, Moses Sumney, My Morning Jacket, and Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan are some other big names contributing to the project.

This is going to be great! We can look forward to some occasional releases leading up to the full release, but this is the first fully mastered song from Blacklist.

It's by Miley Cyrus, and it's great.
