Everything You Need to Know for New Music Friday June 11, 2021!

It's a New Release Friday! We love exploring new music, and here are some of our favorite new releases coming out today.

Today marks the release of No Gods No Masters, the seventh studio album by American rock band, Garbage. Scottish frontwoman Shirley Manson explains "This is our seventh record, the significant numerology of which affected the DNA of its content: the seven virtues, the seven sorrows, and the seven deadly sins".

As you might guess, this band has lost an ounce of their punch. This is very much an album for our times.

British rock band Wolf Alice is one of the UK's most celebrated exports of the last decade. They originally announced the release of their highly anticipated third album, Blue Weekend, for today, but surprise released it a week ago. Oh well, it's still new. It's been nearly four years since their last release, and early indications are it was well worth the wait.

Brianne here, this is my choice for a new music release:

London based singer/song writer Olivia Dean released an EP, Olivia Dean If You Know What I Mean, ahead of an upcoming new album. I came across her music in an accidental way which is always the best beginning to a long, musical infatuation. Her soulful, nostalgia filled voice, her sometimes cuttingly honest lyrics, and the overall infectious energy that inhabits every song she puts out, gets me every time.

"I'm really inspired by honesty and genuine human connection, people being vulnerable and just actually saying [what they mean] and not sort of dancing around it." She said when talking about songwriting.

Here's my personal favorite, 'The Hardest Part.'
