Celebrating The Phenomenon That is K-Pop at the iHeartRadio Music Awards!

As a longtime fan of K-Pop, it makes me very happy to see one of the most popular genres of music worldwide finally making inroads here in the US.

BTS has been around for more than a decade, and unlike most K-Pop bands, have co-written and co-produced a significant amount of their own musical output. They scored their first million-seller in South Korea in 2016, and became the first Korean group EVER to top the US Billboard 200 with their album Love Yourself: Tear in 2018.

But the story doesn't stop there. BTS also became the fastest group since The Beatles(!) to earn four US Number One albums, doing so in less than two years. They have sold more than 20 million albums worldwide and are the best-selling artists in Korean history. Pretty impressive.

Since we're talking about the cream of the K-pop crop, we need to mention BLANKPINK, the most successful Korean girl group of the K-pop era. Last October's 'The Album' was the first ever album by a Korean girl group to sell over one million copies.

They have broken numerous online records, including 'most-viewed music video within the first 24 hours of release' for the song below. Guinness world record, baby!

Both of these K-pop supergroups are up for awards tonight on the exciting return of The iHeart Radio Music Awards, tonight on Fox at 7. Get all the info here.
