A social media rumor was making its rounds the other day that the Netflix favorite, 'Stranger Things' and its 4th installment, would be premiering on August 21, of 2021.
And it pains me to even say it, but that unfortunately is not the case. As confirmed by executive producer of the series, Shawn Levy, in a tweet responding to the rumor said, 'Sorry. Not true.'
With filming of season 4 coming to a halt back in March of 2020, due to pandemic restrictions and then finally resuming in September, the official premiere date continues to remain a mystery.
However the series has been releasing their fair share of hints on social media, fueling even more speculation of when it will be out. This article on RottenTomatoes.com does a great job of curating all the hints and teases in one place.
One half of the creative team behind the beloved show, Ross Duffer had this to say, which hopefully can tide us over in the mean time:
“Season 4 won’t be the end,” he said. “We know what the end is, and we know when it is. [The pandemic-induced shut-down] has given us time to look ahead, figure out what is best for the show. Starting to fill that out gave us a better idea of how long we need to tell that story.”
