The sun and its ability to kill germs is quite magnificent. We rarely think about the sun killing germs, but it does. And there has never been a better time to reduce bacteria in our environments.

NPR.org sites that, "Rooms exposed to daylight have fewer germs. In fact, the study showed that the lit rooms had about half the viable bacteria (those that are able to grow), compared with dark rooms."

Thrivegolbal.com calls sunlight, "nature's disinfectant." They also quoted Florence Nightingale who insisted on sunlight because she believed it helped her patients get better and that it had a "purifying" effect: it cleaned the air and so reduced the risks of infections spreading.

In conclusion, open your drapes and let the sun shine in.
