Miller Lite Cancels Leap Day Free Beer Promotion After Shooting

Miller Lite announced that they will not be giving away free beer this Saturday (February 29) due to the horrific mass shooting at the Milwaukee, Wisconsin headquarters of their parent company, Molson Coors.

"We apologize but given the recent news in our hometown, we will not be proceeding with the Leap Day promotion," the company said on Twitter. "Thank you for understanding."

Miller Lite planned to give away 5,000 cases of free beer to celebrate Leap Day, which falls on a Saturday for the first time since 1992.

Molson Coors said that their offices and brewery will remain closed for the next few days.

Authorities have not determined a motive for the tragic shooting, in which a 51-year-old employee shot five of his co-workers before taking his own life.
