Historic WWII Photo Celebrates 75th Anniversary

On Feb. 23, 1945 an image was captured that will be in all of our minds forever. The sight of it brings up sadness, victory, and American pride. Take a moment to look at it and then take another moment to thank a Veteran. ABC news reports that this photo, "recognized one of the World War II's bloodiest battles and became a symbol synonymous with the Marine Corps." You can see the full story here. Joe Rosenthal's photo won the Pulitzer prize for photography in 1945. It has since been made a statue that was dedicated in 1954.
