Class Ring Found 47 years later, Across the Atlantic Ocean

When Debra McKenna of Portland, Maine lost a class ring in 1973, she thought she'd never see it again.

It had belonged to her then-boyfriend Shawn and she left it in a department store bathroom.

Fast forward 47 years and a sheet metal worker in Finland found it under 8 inches of soil using a metal detector in a city park.

Marko Saarinen then contacted the Morse High School Alumni Association in hopes of finding the owner.

Shawn and Debra ended up marrying and being together for 40 years until Shawn passed away after a battle with cancer in 2017.
