Cities 97.1 - Uniquely Twin Cities

How Does This Winter Stack Up Against Last Winter?

By Paul Fletcher
Jan 20, 2020
The Twin Cities averages 54 inches of snow each winter, but 2019-20 appears to be on track to sprint past that annual average for a third consecutive winter.
Only 32-37 inches of snow was recorded at MSP Airport in the winters of 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17, but things got wild in 2017-18 with 78.3 inches of snow and again last winter when 77.1 inches was recorded.
This winter has already seen 32.8 inches of snow at MSP Airport, which blows away the amounts through Jan. 20 in each of the last two winters, which were obviously very snowy by the time things were all said and done.
