There were 2 big snubs with the 2020 Oscar nominations, in my opinion.
One is the largely reported snub of Greta Gerwig in the Best Director category, she did Little Women. I haven't seen the movie yet, but just look at the category and it's enough to get my eyes rolling. Don't get me wrong, Martin Scorsese is a legend, he's one of the greats, but in my opinion he didn't do anything great with The Irishman. It's just another Scorsese film.
The other is not going to be reported or referred to much, but me and my colleagues on the Movies Over Easy podcast are all in complete agreement that Paul Walter Hauser should have been nominated for Best Actor AND we believe he should be the 2nd front runner behind Joaquin Phoenix. Realistically, for a relatively unknown actor just being nominated would've been a win and he absolutely deserved that for his portrayal of Richard Jewell in the movie of the same name. That one gets my blood boiling. He was SO good.
