New Cleaning Hack Makes Your House SHINE With Ketchup and Tin Foil

A woman has uncovered a handy cleaning hack to remove rust stains from pieces of metal furniture - using just some ketchup and tin foil.

Jo Nichol, from Emsworth, Hampshire, shared remarkable before-and-after photographs demonstrating the trick in action to the Facebook groupMrs Hinch Cleaning Tips.

Her tip, which involves covering the furniture's exterior with tomato sauce before removing it with tin foil, was hailed 'amazing' and 'brilliant' by cleaning enthusiasts.

Taking to the group, Jo posted an image of a breakfast stool, stained with rust marks, before showing it covered in red sauce on Wednesday.

Leaving it on for five minutes, Jo said she then removed the layer of ketchup with scrunched up tin foil to reveal a sparkling metal surface.

'Before and after with the ketchup, five minute job, amazing,' she captioned the three photographs.

Ketchup contains acetic acid (a weak organic chemical that gives condiments their bitter taste) which combats tarnishing.
