Eco-Friendly Bowls At Chipotle Reportedly Linked To Cancer and Infertility

The eco-friendly bowls that hold your food at Chipotle and Sweetgreen are reportedly more harmful than we thought.

According to the Daily Mail, an investigation from the New Food Economy revealed that the molded fiber bowls contain PFAS chemicals tat won't break down in the environment and have been linked to cancer and infertility.

The chemicals are used in these bowls because of their "water- and grease-repelling properties." While there wasn't a "high" amount of PFAS found in the bowls that would exceed the FDA's threshold of concentrations of PFAS allowed in food packaging, the "short-chain" levels could stay in the body for days or even months before being excreted.
