Over the years, I've heard a few older folks talk about what has helped them gain such long lives. Usually it's, I drink red wine everyday, exercise, stay active in the community...etc but this is a first. Louise Signore, who lives in the Bronx in New York has said the key to a long life is staying single. Yep, just be single! Good news for all you single people out there.
According to Louise, "I think the secret of 107: I never got married. I think that's the secret. My sister says, 'I wish I never got married.' Her sister is 102 years old so perhaps longevity might just run in the family. According to CNN, Signore celebrated her milestone with a birthday party at the JASA Bartow Community Center in Co-op City with more than 100 people attending.
Alelia Murphy,114, currently holds the record for being the oldest living woman in the United States. Murphy lives in Harlem in New York, which is also where Signore was born.
