Next Wave Of Severe Storms Likely Late This Week

Thankfully, it doesn't look like this will affect Live At The Lake this Thursday!

We joked Monday in our Weather MN blogthat Mother Nature and the State of Minnesota had agreed to a three-day nice weather contract. Well, the reason it's not a four-day contract is because more severe storms are being forecast for parts of Minnesota on Thursday.

The Storm Prediction Center has already placed parts of northern and west-central Minnesotain a slight risk for severe storms in its Day 3 outlook, which means they're already fairly confident in strong storms developing.

Their current thinking is that a line of storms will develop late Thursday and be capable of producing damaging winds and large hail.

While it's still too early to put a lot of trust in any of the computer models, the NAM 13KM model (GIF may not load in all browsers) is picking up on storm possibilities diving southeast through Minnesota late Thursday night into Friday morning.
