New footage shows the noose around Jussie Smollett's neck, which he reportedly kept wearing on purpose to prove to cops that he was assaulted.
Chicago Police released 69 hours of video related the the alleged hate crime, via Daily Mail. Included is the body cam footage of Smollett with a noose around his neck, which his alleged attackers allegedly put on him.
The 37-year-old actor kept the noose on to show police evidence of the alleged hate crime. At one point in the video, one cop can be heard saying, "Want to take it off?" and that's when Smollett finally takes it off.
Smollett appears with his creative director, who asks if the body cameras are rolling. Police confirm that cameras are rolling and audio is being recorded, at which point Smollett and his creative director ask for the cameras to be turned off.
Police determined that Smollett had staged the attack and he was charged with filing a false report. Ultimately the charges were dropped by Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx.
