Alec Baldwin "Can't Imagine" Returning to SNL

Alec Baldwin would like to move on from playing Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live, the actor said in an interview withUSA Today Thursday.

Baldwin, who has returned to SNL on a recurring basis to impersonate Trump, sounds like he's tired of playing the president and receiving constant criticism of his portrayal.

"I mean, I had a lot of fun with (the cast), and when Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider wrote (Trump sketches in 2016 and 2017), that was new, it was fresh and the ratings were good," Baldwin toldUSA Today. "But I feel like I'm done with that now. I'm so done with that."

Baldwin admitted that Darrell Hammond is a better impersonator than he is and said that the criticism he was receiving for his portrayal skyrocketed after Anthony Atamanuik debuted his Trump impersonation onThe President Showin 2017.

"When Anthony Atamanuik (started impersonating Trump on Comedy Central'sThe President Show), all these people were attacking me, saying, 'Oh, your impression sucks and you suck. Please go away,'" Baldwin said.
