Wisconsin Capitol Flies LGBTQ Pride Flag For First Time In History

For the first time in state history, a rainbow pride flag is being flown over the Wisconsin Capitol.

The LGBTQ pride flag will be flown over the East Wing to celebrate Pride Month through the end of June, the Journal Sentinel reports. Wisconsin's Democratic Governor Tony Evers says the flat is an "important visual symbol of support" for the LGBTQ community.

In an executive order, Evers said, "Publicly displaying the Rainbow Pride Flag sends a clear and unequivocal message that Wisconsin is a welcoming and inclusive place where everyone can live without fear of persecution, judgment, or discrimination."
