The next Star Wars movie will be written and directed by Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
Disney made the announcement (via Daily Mail) that the duo's new project will be the very next Star Wars film. They announced in February that the pair would write and produce a new trilogy for the franchise, separate from the current films slated and the other new trilogy that The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson is creating.
Most fans expected the December 16, 2022, December 12, 2024, and December 18, 2026 releases to be Johnson's trilogy, but it's now confirmed not to be the case.
Should be interesting if they try to slip in a GOT reference. Like...an obvious Starbucks cup? Lol. That'll totally ruin it for me, honestly.
