The most successful Disney stars all let us know at some point that they were SO over their pure image.
These 8 times are just scraping the surface.
Christina Aguilera gets "Dirrty" with Redman
Xtina's 2002 Stripped album is one of the greatest pop albums of all time, but it was nothing short of scandal. "Dirrty" was the lead single on the album, shocking everyone even though "Genie in a Bottle" was pretty suggestive itself. It only peaked at #48 on the U.S. Billboard 100 chart but topped British Isles and Ireland charts and was in the top ten in other countries.
Aguilera got her start on Mickey Mouse Club.
Justin Timberlake gets revenge in "Cry Me A River"
JT has a lot of sexy songs, but if filming (fake) revenge sex in a music video doesn't scream "I'm not on Mickey Mouse Club anymore either," then I don't know what does.
From another one of 2002's best (and overall best) pop albums of all time, Justified, "Cry Me A River" made fans forget all about NSYNC and helped make Timberlake stand out as someone who could probably have success as a solo artist. (Obviously that was proven true.) It was Justified's second single and sparked a lot of rumors about his breakup with ex-girlfriend, Britney Spears.
Britney's definitely not a little girl anymore in "I'm A Slave 4 U"
Britney Spears' songs were already pretty suggestive up to this point, but this particular song is so extreme that it's as if she kept trying to top herself lyrically and visually. It's also the song she performed at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards with that iconic yellow snake named "Banana."
Miley Cyrus breaks down walls in "Wrecking Ball"
I'll admit, "We Can't Stop" was even more of a shock, but "Wrecking Ball" turned out to be a decent song from Miley's Bangerz album in 2013. It had reasonably decent success on the charts, too...It became her FIRST-EVER #1 single in the United States.
Miley is best known for her breakout role on the Disney Channel show, Hannah Montana.
Demi Lovato gets real in "Sober"
Demi stands out from a lot of Disney stars in that she's always been really open about her struggle with substance abuse, which definitely started when she was underage. "Sober" exposes her relapse in recovery.
Lovato starred in the Disney Channel movie, Camp Rock, alongside Joe Jonas.
Nick Jonas shaves his head and gets "Jealous"
Nick Jonas suddenly grew up when he ditched his luscious curly locks and uttered the words "hellish" and "sexy" in his solo breakout song "Jealous."
Joe Jonas drops the F-bomb in DNCE's "Cake By The Ocean"
Well, the song isn't even about CAKE cake either. So...
Selena Gomez summons Justin Bieber in "Come & Get It"
Selena burst into mainstream stardom in her 2013 album Stars Dance sans her band, the Scene. It became a top 10 single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and peaked at #2 on the Mainstream Top 40 chart. The song sparked adult-themed comments about her relationship with Justin Bieber, who had only just recently gotten rid of his famous "Bieber Bowl" haircut.
