Police officials are warning residents to be vigilant at the pump after razor blades were found affixed to the inside handle of a gas pump Monday afternoon.
The blades -- one newer and the other rusty -- fell from the handle after a customer in Michigan went to fill their tank Monday afternoon, April 15, said Coloma Township Police Chief Wes Smigielski.
Smigielski said blades were located in the area where a person would squeeze down to pump the gas. Six more razor blades were found atop the gas pump, the chief said.
At this time, investigators are still trying to determine who placed the razors there, and when and why. He said “hours and hours” of reviewed gas station security footage have so far provided no answers.
Smigielski said he has no further reports of razor blades found in gas handles elsewhere in the township or in surrounding areas.
