Sleep In? You Could Be More Intelligent According To Study

It seems as though I might be a genius! According to a new study, If you find yourself constantly turning off that alarm and staying in bed for prolong periods of time, then you might be more intelligent. The research performed by the London School of Economics and psychologist, Satoshi Kanazawa says not only are those people more intelligent but they also tend to be more creative and happier compared to their early bird counterparts. Why is this a sign of intelligence, well, they make the case that those are more in control of when they sleep and wake up tend to lead to a sign of intelligence.

Satoshi Kanazawa states, "humans – exhibit a daily cycle of activity called circadian rhythm. However, humans, unlike other mammalian species, have the unique ability – consciously and cognitively – to override their internal biological clock and its rhythmic outputs. In other words, at least for humans, circadian rhythm is not entirely a matter of genetics.Within broad genetic constraints, humans can choose what time to go to bed and get up – choosing to be night owls or morning larks."

His study is also backed up to a similar study done at the University of Southampton in which they studied this with over one-thousand participants and compared their sleeping habits. According that study, they found that those who slept in were much happier and earned more money.

So, you see mom and dad...it was wrong for you to get me out of bed in the morning when I was a kid. I needed all the sleep I could get! What do you think of this study? Do you sleep in or are you an early riser?
