Earlier this year,Imagine Dragons' singerDan Reynoldsshared a thorough, thoughtful note about the effect his peers' "vile" comments had on him, and how theyadded to his depression. He name dropped a number of bands that had said negative things about his music in the past, includingFoster The People, and on Thursday (April 11) the band's frontmanMark Fosterpenned anopen apologyto Reynolds.
“I have been burdened by something I feel I need to amend. I would like to apologize to Dan Reynolds and his band Imagine Dragons. In a passing moment last year, I let some words come out of my mouth that don’t reflect who I am, or what I stand for,” he began the note, referring to an interview with iHeartRadio last year where he quipped that theygave the songs cut from their albums to Imagine Dragons.
He continued to explain the effect Reynolds' words had on him and admitted he was right before praising the singer for his advocacy work. “Everything that I have read about what Dan is doing as a humanitarian is moving. I believe he’s one of the good guys. It takes a lot of courage to stand for something," he continued before confessing "nobody has ever erected a statue of a critic.”
“Keep fighting the good fight, Dan," he concluded the letter. "You have my pledge to work alongside you if you ever need a hand. Much respect to you and continued success in your music.”
