Minnesota Couple Recounts Norwegian Cruise Nightmare Over the Weekend

A Minnesota couple caught on the Norwegian cruise ship that issued a mayday describes the horrific event, comparing it to the Titanic.

According to the Daily Mail, Rodney Horgen and Judy Lemieux of Deer River, Minnesota were on board the Viking Sky, which experienced engine failure in rough waters on Saturday.

Horgen told the Star Tribune that he tried to grab his wife but couldn't when she was swept away by water inside the seventh-floor restaurant. Lemieux said the 6-foot tall wave came toward her through the window of the restaurant and sent her flying.

They said the conditions got so bad, passengers thought the ship was going to turn on its side.

Passengers were evacuated by helicopter and were taken to safety.
