Confirmed: Makeup at Claire's and Justice Contains Asbestos

The FDA confirmed that makeup at tween retailers Claire's and Justice contains asbestos.

According to HuffPost, test results reveal that three powdered makeup products contain asbestos, the mineral fiber once used in construction materials and is linked to lung disease. The products are talc-based; talc may contain asbestos in its natural form.

If you bought your daughter makeup from Claire's, these are the products to throw out IMMEDIATELY because they tested positive for asbestos:

  • Claire's Eye Shadows - Batch No/Lot No: 08/17
  • Claire's Compact Powder - Batch No/Lot No: 07/15
  • Claire's Contour Palette - Batch No/Lot No: 04/17

Only one product from Justice tested positive for asbestos, but they recalled the product (among others) in 2017.

The FDA claims that Claire's "refused to comply" with its request to recall these products, so they are warning consumers themselves.
