Owatonna High School On Lockdown Over Alleged Racist Social Media Comments

The last thing you want to hear is that your kid's school is on lockdown, which can bring a lot of uncertainty for both parents and students.

According to Fox 9 , police were called in to Owatonna Senior High School on Monday to "de-escalate" a situation that allegedly started with "racially offensive" comments made on social media.

A spokesperson for the school says the situation escalated once students were at school on Monday. Students were shouting and "being disruptive" in the common areas and the gym, and the school was placed on lockdown at 12:30 p.m.

The lockdown was lifted one hour later.

Two students were taken into custody - one for assaulting a police officer and the other for obstructing the legal process. A third juvenile was cited and released for trespassing.

The investigation is ongoing.
