The women accused of beating a child to death after he took a cupcake from the kitchen will go on trial this week.

According to reports (via KARE 11) Glenndria and LaShirley Morris each face charges of two counts of felony murder, one of aggravated assault, and two counts of cruelty to children in the first degree in the death of 3-year-old Kejuan Mason, which occurred last summer in the Atlanta area.

Police say Glenndria Morris, Kejuan's guardian, told officers he had choked on a cupcake. The story didn't check out...and it was determined he died of blunt force trauma with a baseball bat.

According to the indictment, the sisters repeatedly struck the child with the bat and spanked him on his bottom after he took a cupcake from the kitchen.

Kejuan's grandmother says Glenndria Morris flat out told her before the autopsy came back "that he had been beaten about the cupcake."

The trial will begin on January 3.

Rest in peace, Kejuan...
