Weezer Is Headlining the 2019 NHL Winter Classic

It looks like Weezer will be spending New Year's Day in South Bend, Indiana. On Wednesday (December 12), it was announced that the LA rockers will be headlining the 2019 NHL Winter Classic at Notre Dame Stadium. For those unfamiliar with hockey, the Chicago Blackhawks and Boston Bruins play an annual outdoor game at the iconic stadium. Every year, the teams sport festive sweaters, so Weezer, if you don't play "Undone (The Sweater Song)" it will be an opportunity wasted!

Though the band is set to headline, other acts will be announced before the big event. Check out the announcement below.

The night before the big game, Weezer is set to perform at the Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve Hollywood party alongside fellow alt-rockers Foster The People, The Chainsmokers, country superstars Kelsea Ballerini, Lauren Alaina and Kane Brown (who are slated to perform a duet); pop heavyweights Charlie Puth, Dua LipaHalseyCamila Cabello, and Shawn Mendes; hip-hop hero Macklemore with Skylar Grey, R&B icon Ciara, and rising stars Bazzi and Ella Mai.

2019 should be a big year for the band, who announced their 12th studio album (and fifth in their self-titled series) last month. The Black Album is slated for a March 1, 2019 release. After the album drops, Weezer plans to hit the road with Pixies for a North American tour.
