RECALL: Your Birthday Cake Mix Might Have Salmonella

Four types of cake mix have been recalled for potential salmonella contamination risk.

According to USA TODAY, Duncan Hines cake flavors Classic Butter Golden, Signature Confetti, Classic Yellow, and Classic White are being voluntarily recalled after the FDA and CDC found salmonella in a sample of the Classic White cake mix during an investigation.

If you bought any of these products with the following UPC codes, return them to the store you bought them from:

  • Duncan Hines Classic White Cake (644209307500)
  • Duncan Hines Classic Yellow Cake (644209307494)
  • Duncan Hines Classic Butter Golden Cake (644209307593)
  • Duncan Hines Signature Confetti Cake (644209414550)

The CDC estimates 1.2 million illnesses, 23,000 hospitalizations, and 450 deaths are caused by salmonella in the United States each year. Symptoms include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps.
