Whether you're flying to or from Minnesota, this is the best time to take advantage of low fares for the holidays.
I won't be flying home to Colorado for Christmas, but if I was, you know I'd be scouring the internet for the lowest fares possible. But really, who wouldn't? I'm definitely a procrastinator, though. I'd probably wait until two or three weeks before to purchase my ticket, and would end up with credit card debt worse than my NYE hangover.
According to Sky Scanner (via USA TODAY), the best time to buy a plane ticket home for the holidays is between October 8 and November 19, where you can save 3% of the cost.
Booking an extended stay could also save money; arriving December 18 and departing December 28 is said to be less expensive. On the flip side, last-minute travelers who fly out on Christmas Eve can save an average of $76 on their ticket.
