Ben Stiller's High School Band Capital Punishment Shares 'Confusion'

Ben Stiller and his high school band, Capital Punishment, are gearing up to release a new EP.

Yes, you read that right.

Earlier this month, the post-punk group announced they would be releasing new music for the first time in 36 years in the form of a five-track EP called This Is Capital Punishment. The album will be a special Record Store Day Black Friday 2018 release that's limited to 1,500 copies, and now fans can listen to its first offering: "Confusion."

The track is a reimagined version of the 1982 original, which appeared on the band's debut (and only) album, Roadkill. Captured Tracks recently released a reissue of the album.

Listen to the new version of "Confusion" below.

Recording new music wasn't easy for Capital Punishment's members, Stiller, Kriss Roebling, Peter Zusi and Peter Swann, who now reside all over the world. But they made it work.

“Nobody was told exactly what to do for their parts, so each member's contribution had a marked effect on the direction the songs took, and what ultimately they developed into,” Roebling said in a statement.

For Stiller, he's just happy to be playing again. And thinks 36 years of practice may have done him good.

“It was so much fun after 30-plus years to be playing again,” he said. “And feeling like I actually got a tiny bit better!”

Look out for This Is Capital Punishment on November 23rd.
