Katy Perry defends her reported $25 million “American Idol” salary in a radio interview set to air on Wednesday.
Perry singed on last week as the first judge of the “American Idol” reboot, which will air on ABC in 2018.
It was subsequently reported that the pop star would be paid a whopping $25 million for the season, more than what Ryan Seacrest and Jennifer Lopez previously earned. Now in a KTU interview clip released Tuesday, Perry addresses the large sum.
“...I’m really proud that, as a woman, I got paid,” Perry stated.
“And you know why? I got paid like more than pretty much any guy that’s been on that show. And, by the way, I love men. So I’m a paid woman and I’m ready for a beautiful man.”
The singer went on to discuss the “constructive criticism” she plans to dish on the reality competition. “I’m polite but firm. I’m super realistic,” Perry said, going on to reveal she was in negotiations to join past seasons of the show but “it’s never been right” until now.
