The Minnesota State Patrol logged 227 crashes and 59 spin-outs in the metro between noon and 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
Twenty-five of those involved injuries, but none were serious or fatal. Across the state, more than 384 crashes occurred with no serious injuries or fatalities.
A major pile up around 5 p.m. that drew three ambulances temporarily shut down I-694 near the Silver Lake Road overpass.
Although there were no serious injuries in that crash, it involved several vehicles and about eight tow trucks were called to clear the roads, State Patrol spokesperson Lt. Tiffani Nielson said.
