My Weekend Remodeling Project - Before/After (Pics)

It was time for the carpet to go.....after 10+ years, I'd say it served it's purpose. Plus it took a beating. SO, I got to work on, really, my first ever significant DIY home update project. I'm, seriously, a complete dolt when it comes to this stuff. I've got no experience and, just, no feel for this stuff. But, I can pull carpet, so I started there one evening after work.

For a guy who largely uses his pea sized brain and fingertips for daily work achievement, even THIS was hard work......hahaha.

BUT I got it done! Relatively quickly........that's about as much as I trust myself to do alone though, so in comes the heavy hitter.......I've dubbed him "The Adam Of All Trades". Gotta have a bit, right?

And the real work began......

Mind you, I didn't stop helping......but I wanted a pro involved.......

(NO idea why I filmed this so wonky.....tilt your head, give you neck a little exercise)

And away we went............that closet and the alcove to the left of it were not the easiest, slowed us down a bit, but we kept on truckin........

And yes.....I even work hockey into home updating.......

Getting some comments, people said, "it's a piece of cake". We were done from carpet to new floor in about 5 hours, BUT my knees (with padding) would argue it is NOT a "piece of cake". Hahaha. 2 days later and they're still sore and a bit swollen. They are definitely not looking forward to finishing this other room. (Actually left things as you see it in the pic above......hahaha.....where the wood is carrying over into the next room as it'll be temporary and that way we didn't waste pieces.)

Annnnnnnd......almost done.......

Ta. Da.

All in all.....pretty easy process.....and we're REALLY happy with how it looks.

Below.....did my best to get a shot of the finished product. The set up is a master bedroom (the room not finished) into a great room (or sitting room, whatever). We decided to flip flop the 2. We put the bed in the smaller great room. It's a little tight, but feels cozy. Plus all we really do in there is sleep. Then, once done in the next week or 2, we'll convert the former master bedroom into a decent sized family room, for video games, board games, rough housing, dolls and etc.
