Today is the 43rd Birthday of a truly great American singer songwriter, Sturgill Simpson. After winning a Grammy in 2016 for his amazing release A Sailor's Guide To Earth, he catapulted into the public consciousness as an unlikely new rising Nashville star.
Since then, his fan base has only grown larger and more fervent. His last two releases, Cuttin' Grass Vol 1 & 2, are a great reinterpretation of his back catalog as straight bluegrass. Even if you're not a huge fan of the genre, these records are a truly wonderful listen.
