Former Minneapolis police officer Mohamed Noor is appealing his conviction in the Justine Damond murder case, and has been moved to a different prison for his own safety, the Daily Mail reports.
Noor was convicted of third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in April, and was sentenced in June to 12.5 years in prison. On Tuesday, Noor's lawyers began the appeals process with the Minnesota Court of Appeals.
In a statement, Noor's lawyers claimed the third-degree murder charge was "too harsh."
The Star Tribune (via Daily Mail) says he was transferred to a state prison in Bismarck, North Dakota.
