Minnesota's Climate Changing More Rapidly Than Other States

The state that was once known as "the American Siberia" is turning into one whose climate is changing more rapidly than that of any other state, according to reports. 

The Bemidji Pioneer says climatologists who spoke at Alexandria Technical and Community College's Senior College last week claim Minnesota isn't getting as cold as it used to, and temperatures are changing faster than any other state (except Alaska). 

The presentation featured charts showing the change that supposedly drew gasps from the audience. 

Since 1970, they say, the coldest nights in central and western Minnesota warmed by 1.5-2 degrees each decade. Just four to five decades later, a cold winter night just isn't as cold as it once was. 

They concluded that, while winters won't be quite as cold as they used to be, they'll still be dark and cold.
