The Minnesota Renaissance Festival is the latest major event in the state to be canceled due to COVID-19.
Despite five months of creating a COVID-19 mitigation plan, the Shakopee festival announced Wednesday that opening this year is not feasible under current state guidelines.
The announcement comes just days before the festival was set to begin. But events that can be modified to meet COVID-19 guidelines will continue, including the Feast of Fantasy over the next seven weeks and the Phantom Feast in October.
